Teaching and Learning for Social Justice

Learning Outcomes

1) Faculty will be able to discuss methods of aligning course assignments with a social justice issue.
2) Faculty will be able to construct a course assignment that addresses a social justice issue.
3) Faculty will be able to assess the quality of social justice assignments.
Course Schedule

Expectations
Expectations for participation:
1. Sign up and participate in community building and faculty development exercises using StoryPrompt to online video engagement tool.
2. Respond to StoryPrompt questions.
3. Actively engage with faculty colleagues in breakout sessions.
4. Complete draft social justice assignment.
5. Complete final social justice assignment incorporating faculty peer feedback.
6. Offer feedback to at least one other faculty member.
7. Complete other assigned tasks during the four-session training.
Faculty will receive a stipend for participation in the four 90-minute sessions and additional outside work. Finally, if possible, implement the assignment in the course and receive student feedback as part of our on-going IRB approved student on student engagement at National University.
